Materials of Construction

Materials of Construction is designed as an initiation into the material practice in architecture. It will develop and understanding of the architectural materials as instigators of architectural form as well as key parameters in the development of performance-oriented design solutions, with a specific focus on embodied carbon as a primary challenge in our response to climate change.

The trajectory of the course aims to help students develop an instinctive understanding ofappropriateness of materials as a primary value in the material practice of architecture.
